Know What Size Mattress You Need

  • Twin XL: 38” x 80”
  • Full: 53” x 75”
  • Queen: 60” x 80”
  • King: 76” x 80”
  • Cal King: 72” x 84”
  • Split King: 76” x 80” (two Twin XL make a King)
  • Custom Sizes: If your bed does not meet these traditional sizes, make sure you are going to a place that can make you a bed to meet your custom size.

Measure The Desired Height Of Your Mattress

You want to measure from the floor to the top of your bed. It you know the total height; the showroom manager can work with you to find the right mattress & foundation combination to reach it.

Have An Idea Of Your Comfort Preference

Knowing your comfort preference (i.e. extra firm, firm, medium, or plush) can help the showroom manager guide you to the right types of beds from the start. As discussed in the comfort blog post, you should have an open mind when trying beds in the showroom, but having a starting point is helpful for the showroom manager.

Reason for Buying

The showroom manager will ask you why you are buying (i.e. is your current mattress old, are you having pain, is your mattress not comfortable, is this just for a guest room, etc). Ensuring you can answer this question will be very helpful for the showroom manager to show you to the right beds.

Bring People That Will Sleep On It

If you share your bed with a partner, having both of you go to try the beds is important.
